Does your group have a great idea that will help make Benalla better, bring people together or improve the lives of our children and young people?
If so, it may be eligible for a grant of up to $5,000.
“Each year we give grants to groups that have great ideas for Benalla; who want to use their skills, give their time and work with others to make Benalla an even better place to live,” says Sally Gamble, Chair of Tomorrow Today.
In 2019, Tomorrow Today awarded a grant of $1,500 to the Warrenbayne Playgroup. Based at the much-loved Warrenbayne Recreation Reserve, this funding allowed the purchase of necessary equipment, including art supplies, musical instruments, tables, chairs, books and puzzles.
“The playgroup has become another great way to connect people. It brings children, parents and grandparents together in the context of our community,” says Warrenbayne local, Mary Bridgland. Mary says that the connections made through playgroup have a flow-on effect. “You see families become more confident about participating in community activities. We get more people coming to our Australia Day, ANZAC Day, Midwinter Fest and Christmas Tree community events because friendships have developed.”
Mary encourages anyone who has a project idea to reach out to others. “It’s not just about getting funding. If you want your project to be sustainable and have longevity, you need support and networks and committed people around you.”
Priority areas in 2020 include building a stronger, more connected community and improving the social and educational outcomes for Benalla’s children and young people.
