Benalla’s young people are making a difference for the community through the Kids as Catalyst Program.
Teaching the next generation to become philanthropists, the program is run by Kids Thrive and has been made possible thanks to the Tomorrow Today Foundation, Benalla P-12 College, St Joseph’s Primary School and Benalla Rural City Council.
After a term of hard work, years 5 and 6 students presented their formal pitches to a panel on Thursday, including ideas to stop bullying, recognise local Indigenous history, stop domestic violence and tackle environmental issues.
The nine groups were successful, sharing in about $2000 worth of funding.
Working with community partners, the students will have five weeks to get their events and projects off the ground when they go back to school for term three.
