This popular event will be held on Sunday 5 March from 10am to 1pm at the Benalla Indoor Rec Centre and All Blacks Reserve. Around twenty local clubs and organisations come together to offer fun activities for young people aged 5-19. It’s a chance for them to try something new before making a long-term commitment. Sports and community groups including astronomy, badminton, baseball, cricket, hockey, junior footy, lawn tennis, lego, netball, yoga, archery, squash, table tennis and Taekwondo will offer fun activities.
Organised activity, be it a sport or otherwise, is proven to have many physical, developmental and social benefits and can help participants to build resilience and social connections.
“The Come & Try Day has become one of the events we really look forward each year”, said Tomorrow Today Executive Officer, Rosie Koop. “It’s always such a successful day, regardless of the weather! It’s a terrific way for families to sample some of the great activities offered by local organisations, all in one place and free of charge. We hope children will feel energised and inspired to take up a new sport or hobby.”
Families will have the opportunity to speak to club representatives about registration and to learn how they can volunteer to assist in the running of the club and/or activities.
Tomorrow Today is able to provide financial assistance for registration fees for families with a health care or pension card. Assistance is also offered to complete clubs’ online registration process.
