WHAT: Come and Try Day – Free Activities for 5-19 year-olds + Free Sausage Sizzle
WHEN: 10am – 1pm Sunday 10 September 2023
WHERE: Benalla Indoor Rec Centre and All Blacks Reserve, Ackerly Ave, Benalla
Tomorrow Today’s popular Come and Try Day is back again on Sunday 10 September.
Come and Try Day draws a range of sport and recreation clubs and other organisations together to share what they do, giving Benalla’s young people the chance to experience a new activity or sport before making a long-term commitment.
“Come and Try Day has been running since 2017, and since that time we’ve had hundreds of local children and their families participate. This has led to many of them joining a club or association and taking part in an ongoing activity, be it a sport, recreation or hobby,” said Tomorrow Today Executive Officer, Rosie Koop. “Organised activities, outside of school, is proven to have many physical, developmental and social benefits and can help participants to build resilience and social connections. That’s why we run this event every year.”
The free event will be held on Sunday 10 September from 10am to 1pm at the Benalla Indoor Rec Centre and All Blacks Reserve. Around twelve local clubs and organisations will attend to offer fun activities for young people aged 5-19. Astronomy Benalla, Benalla Badminton, Bandits Baseball Club, Benalla Basketball Association, Bush Rangers Cricket Club/Blasters Cricket, Benalla Guides, Benalla Health (RESPOND), Benalla Lawn Tennis Club, Benalla Scouts and Venturers, Brick by Brick, Gibb’s Taekwondo, Room at the Table, Wangaratta Pickleball Club and Valley Sport will all be sharing activities and information to inspire and engage. Families will have the opportunity to speak to club representatives about registration and to learn how they can volunteer to assist in the running of the club and/or activities.
There’s something for everyone, including a free sausage sizzle!
Tomorrow Today can provide financial assistance for registration fees for families with a health care or pension card. Assistance is also offered to complete clubs’ online registration process.
