Being the parent of a teenager presents some unique challenges, and those challenges can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming for parents and carers.
The teen years are when children start to become more independent, push against boundaries at home and school, and they’re more likely to challenge authority and be involved in conflict with their family and friends. It’s also a time when they need guidance, understanding and support as they begin to navigate the world as individuals.
The Tuning in to Teens Program is a free program delivered by Gateway Health in partnership with Tomorrow Today. It’s designed to help parents and carers of teenagers to:
- understand what their teen is going through at this stage in their life
- help them manage their emotions
- manage conflict and communicate with their teen more effectively
- build a closer relationship with them and
- build on their own parenting skills
The six-week program will be run every Wednesday, 5.30-7.30pm from 18 October until 22 November at Tomorrow Today Shop 1, 66 Nunn St.
